Nurse Travel

The American Civil War split brothers, cousins, and friends. Not all participants were male. Yes, there were women nurses and aids. But there were also, women doctors, soldiers, and even spies. One female doctor was presented the Medal of Honor; another woman was presented the Kearny Cross, a medal for bravery by an enlisted man.

True Identities

According to Userpages web page referring to female veterans, historical records show over eighty women were either wounded or killed during the Civil War during battles. It is believed over four hundred women served both sides not counting nurses. It wasn’t until many of the women were wounded or killed in battle that their true identities were revealed.
