The Central Pacific Coast includes such areas as: Manuel Antonio Park, Jaco, and Playa Hermosa. The Northern part of Costa Rica is volcanic, however, the further south you go, the whiter and sandier the beaches get.
Jacó
Jacó is the most popular beach, as it is the beach closest to the capital, San José. It is also famous for its' surfing. Although crowded and touristy, the waves here are incredible. Clean lines go on forever. The beaches are also lined with palm trees and hammocks are available. Jacó is extremely touristy, however, there are some ways to get away from the crowd. Try the hostal Las Cometas. A nice, clean hostal with a hammock on the front porch. Nearby, Bagelman's Restaurant has internet service, if needed. The prices are very reasonable.
