Always pack light. Allow for only one carry-on bag, although some airlines may still be all right with two small carry-ons, including a purse. If you are checking a bag, put all large containers of liquid, shampoo, conditioner, body moisturizer etc. in the checked bag. For your carry on, take only small (under 3 oz.) sample bottles of any kind of liquid.
Only plan on taking a carry- on bag, if it’s small enough to fit in the overhead compartment in smaller commuter planes. Generally that is a bag of these dimensions: 45 inches (Length + Width + Height) and a maximum weight of 40 pounds.
It never fails, there is always at least 1 passenger trying to shove a large bag in the overhead compartment on commercial planes. This just makes for annoyed flight attendants, and disturbed fellow passengers. Usually the flight attendant has to advise that the bag has to be checked. So..…save yourself the trouble and just check the bag in the first place.
